Giuseppe Enrico Carpani, 'Ionathas'

[Text lateinisch und italienisch, Einführung und Kommentar italienisch]. Introduzione, testo critico, traduzione e commento.

This volume presents a critical edition of the tragedy "Ionathas" (1750), whose interpretative key lies in the theme of the bond of ethics and free will, a fundamental assumption of the moral system of Jesuits. This edition of the text is accompanied by an introductory study discussing the work's author, background, structure and ideological roots, an Italian translation and a philological commentary.
