Art and Artists in Hemingway's Life and Work.

Hemingway was acquainted with a number of artists; he created some painter protagonists, and he was influenced early by the visual arts. These still lesser known aspects of his life and work are approached from three different angles in this study: Firstly Hemmingway's various contacts with the world of art are dealt with systematically; secondly, the importance of art as a topic in his fiction is discussed; and finally, formal an thematic analogies between the works of some painters and Hemingway's prose are analyzed.
