Margaret Atwood's Recycling of a Canadian Theme.

This study examines the representation of wilderness and the natural environment as dominant literary spaces in Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale, Cat's Eye and Wilderness Tips. It shows how the author develops wilderness and the natural environment into flexible tools to question traditional associations of gender with nature, to discuss aspects of post-colonial identity and to subvert the conventional pastoral, romance and gothic writing of the land.
