Are there pre-Aristarchean survivals among the non-Aristarchean lines in the mediaeval MSS? Apthorp examines some lines that are not included in Aristarchus' edition and only weakly attested by the post-Aristarchean tradition. Analyzing and discussing these cases in detail, he demonstrates that some of them are survivals from pre-Aristarchean times which have returned to the text, but that the vast majority of the remainder probably entered the text for the first time in post-Aristarchean times. - From the Table of Contents: Introduction. - I.
