The Nature of Chemical Substances. Edited by Klaus Ruthenberg and Jaap van Brakel. This volume aims to collect and discuss the most prominent views referring to the chemical stuff concept within contemporary philosophy of chemistry. Both historical and systematic approaches, as well as chemistry-pronouncing and philosophy-pronouncing points of view, are presented, as well as controversial issues surrounding the different 'stuff' interpretations. Most of the nine contributions to the book were presented and discussed during a workshop by the same title hosted by the Institute of Philosophy of the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, on July 25 and 26, 2006.
