Germer, Helmut: The German Novel of Education 1792-1805

A Complete Bibliography and Analysis. Germer investigates a genre not hitherto isolated, the «Novel of Education», which he separates from the «Bildungsroman». A complete bibliography of almost four hundred numbers was compiled. The content of these books was then tabulated according to aims, vices, virtues, social positions etc., and a list of formal characteristics was added.
